Preeti Sood, a Printmaking Technician Demonstrator at The Arts University Bournemouth is celebrating after her work was selected for exhibition alongside renowned artists Damien Hirst, Sir Peter Blake and Stephen Chambers at ‘Bite’ a new Printmaking exhibition in London from the 24th August – 3rd September.
Originally from India, Preeti, who has a BA and two MA’s in Printmaking, has worked as an Artist Fellow at the University of Lincoln and has had three international solo exhibitions as well as being selected for various printmaking shows in London, Delhi, Bangalore and Japan. Her work is one of only 225 pieces on display, selected from over 1,350 submissions.
Her work explores contemporary laser technology in conjunction with the traditional printmaking processes. Her starting point is the distressed ephemera of urban streets and the decay and recombination of these multi-layered images in seemingly random and unexpected ways. Her practice has evolved into an exploration of displacement experienced by individuals inhabiting cultures. The delicate tissue-like image that results from the process represent her own sense of being torn and displaced between cultures and the transformation that is evolving within and without.
‘Bite’ is a contemporary printmaking exhibition which showcases exciting new prints by artists working in a range of different printmaking methods, both traditional and contemporary. It is on at Mall Galleries, The Mall (near Trafalgar Square), London SW1. For more information on the exhibition, please visit www.mallgalleries.org.uk
