Fine Art students exhibit in Amsterdam
Third-year Fine Art painting students have been exhibiting with students from other European colleges this week in Amsterdam.
Three students were selected from the BA (Hons) Fine Art course to take part in a group show at the Hans Brinker Budget Hotel.
This annual exhibition is entering its twelfth year. Originally the exhibition was conceived one evening in the Hotel bar by a Painting Tutor from the UK and the Hotel’s former manager. Their intention was to encourage and support painting students to come and visit Amsterdam’s many galleries and see Dutch masterpieces up close, whilst giving them an opportunity to exhibit in the centre of Amsterdam. This year students from Wimbledon, Camberwell, Plymouth, Cheltenham and Groningen Art colleges also took part in the event.
Lily Fletcher, Lauren Weetman and Sacha Kent were selected to represent the Arts University Bournemouth, all exhibited recent works painted during the Autumn term.
“Making work for this exhibition really pushed my painting, it was a great opportunity to show in Amsterdam, my work really got a lot of interest on the opening night. It was an excellent chance to go and see a lot of amazing Dutch painting, I think this experience will really benefit my work over the coming months”, said Lily Fletcher
The BA Fine Art team would like to congratulate staff and students from the other exhibiting colleges for their contributions to the exhibition and to thank the staff at the Hans Brinker for inviting us and being such gracious hosts, we hope our contribution to the show was appreciated and to be invited back next year would be a great privilege.
See more of the show at the Hans Brinker Budget Hotel’s Facebook page and website.
