4 February – 28 February 2017

Priest’s House Museum & Garden, 23-27 High St, Wimborne, Dorset.  BH21 1HR

A collaboration between BA (Hons) Graphic Design, BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design, BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design, BA (Hons) Creative Events Management.

‘Be My…’ considers the tradition of sending Valentine’s cards and explores how, over the years, love messages have taken a variety of forms – from the sweet and romantic to the satirical and insulting.

The exhibition focuses on examples of Valentine’s cards from the Priest House Museum and Garden’s unique collection of Victorian Valentine cards – a collection that ‘has been identified to be of national importance’

‘Be My…’ considers the different designs and messages that exist regarding proclamations of love on Valentine’s Day. Importantly, Victorian Vinegar Valentines are presented: caustic designs and messages that communicate disdain and hate, revealing a darker side of human emotions.

The ‘Be My …’ Valentine’s Day exhibition is accompanied by a Valentine’s Tea Party that takes place at the museum on Tuesday 14 February 2017, organised by BA (Hons) Creative Events Management students.
