About this course

This brand new course will help young creatives aged 8-12 years harness their imagination and gain confidence in creating and sharing their work.

Your young artists will spend 5 days immersed in our creative, inclusive, and vibrant campus, studying alongside other AUB summer students from around the world.

They'll be taught by tutors who are experts in their fields and are dedicated to supporting young learners. They'll also take full advantage of our specialist facilities and industry-standard art and design studios, in which the club will share their work in an encouraging and compassionate environment.

Each day students will learn new skills in art and design, using tools, equipment and techniques that are vital in the creative industries! Your mini-maker does not need to have any art or design experience to be able to get stuck in – all we ask is students come with buckets of enthusiasm!

Our expert tutors will take the young artists' abilities and enthusiasm, and guide them to fully explore their creative talent and future potential.

We try to harness a budding young artist's natural style and flair to enable them to build on their existing skills as well as develop new ones, with the aim of helping them find their creative voice.

Great care is taken to ensure all our young learners are included, respected, and supported throughout the duration of their course.

Holiday Club highlights include:

  • Observational drawing
  • Modelmaking
  • Character design
  • Narrative illustration
  • Plein air painting

Our young artists will be split into 2 groups for the week – Team Potter and Team Carle – and there'll be no more than 20 students in each group. Each group will be led by one of our expert tutors, professional artists in their own rights who are passionate about expanding the breadth and depth of their students’ abilities.

Each day will include 6 hours' worth of teaching, with breaks for snacks and lunch.

Plus, there's a BONUS Showcase Session on the Saturday immediately following the final day of teaching, where your young artists will exhibit their work. There'll also be a short awards ceremony where each student will receive a certificate and special awards will also be given.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Showcase Session so you can see what the students have been up to.

What's included

All course materials and resources are included in the course fee including your sketchbook and portfolio folder. Also included is your apron – as some of the classes are sure to get messy!

You’ll receive 32 hours of teaching in AUB’s state-of-the-art industry-standard art and design studios and digital suites, with access to our library and online resources.

What to bring

You'll need to bring a packed lunch with you everyday, along with any drinks and snacks you may want throughout the day.

Make sure your young artist comes prepared to get messy – wear clothes that you don't mind getting paint-stained or dirty.

The Shop will be open daily for a limited period of time, so your mini-makers can purchase drinks and snacks if they wish.

We discourage you from bringing valuables – e.g. phones and tablets – onto campus, as your young artists will be learning all around the campus and any valuables are therefore left in classrooms at the owners' risk.
