About this course

This unique and alternative course has been designed specifically for professional artists, students, and amateurs. It gives you the opportunity to discover a new process and explore different methods and processes of image making and to expand on your technical knowledge and experience.

Through a series of practical demonstrations to build your knowledge, understanding and proficiency, your tutor, Anthony Harris, will guide you through the specialist processes, where you'll learn the essential skills necessary to produce artwork created using engraving processes and mirroring techniques.

As part of the course, you'll make your own fully finished frames to display your completed pieces of artwork using recycled wood to compliment the glass or mirrored surfaces.

You'll prepare test samples of glass and apply the silver leaf surface before exploring engraving, drawing, and painting techniques followed by frame construction techniques using recycled materials. You'll then work towards producing a final piece of artwork driven by your own design preferences.

Sessions will include learning about all the different tools, materials, and processes. This includes glass types, preparation, glass cutting, cleaning, and applying assorted metal leaf specifically silver, using gelatine-based adhesive.

Drawing and etching tools will be used to produce images on glass whilst frame-making tools, materials and processes will be explored to enable you to create a final art piece from start to finish.

The minimum age for this course is 18 years.

This is an introductory course, therefore no previous understanding or experience is required.
