When to enrol
Due to the popularity of the short evening and Saturday courses we advise that you apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Classes are small and places are strictly limited. Enrolment is on a first come first served basis, however, we do hold a ‘waiting list’ for popular courses in case of cancellations.
How to enrol
Online – using our new online booking system
In person (Please note, we do not accept cash/cheques. Card payment only) – visit us at the above office, we are based in the Enterprise Pavilion on the AUB campus and our opening hours are:
Term time: 08:30-18:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:30-16:30 on Fridays.
Non-term time: 08:30-17:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:30-16:30 on Fridays.
When making your booking you must:
- Read the booking terms and conditions carefully.
- On receipt of your booking and payment, we will send you written confirmation which details your start date and time.
Cancellations and transfers
If you wish to cancel your place on a course, please contact the short course office at least 21 days prior to the course start date. If we receive this cancellation within the timescale you will be entitled to a full refund.
There are no classes held on bank holidays, courses will continue over an extended period so that participants still have the advertised number of sessions to attend.
Short courses do not stop for school half-term holidays, please ensure you take this into consideration before booking your chosen course.
Non-attendance of classes due to illness or for personal reasons does not provide the right to a refund, extra tuition or a transfer.
We are unable to accept bookings from students under 16 years of age.
All the course descriptions (found via the website) list the materials which you will need to complete the course. Please refer to our Suggested Suppliers downloadable PDF, found in the Downloads area of this page, for more information resourcing specialist materials/consumables, you will need to bring these with you to your first class.
As an AUB student you are entitled to join our library during the time of your course. The library offers an excellent range of specialist art and design resources. To join, please take your enrolment form and two passport size photos to the library reception.
If you are studying an ABC (the Awarding Body Consortium) accredited course, the ABC Awards will issue you a certificate after your portfolio of work has been assessed.
If you require an Arts University Bournemouth certificate of attendance from us, please contact the short course office. You must have attended a minimum amount of 70 percent of classes in order to gain this certificate.
If you are attending an evening course there is limited amount of on-site parking after 3.30pm during the week, on-site parking is also available for Saturday classes.
If you are using public transport, there are regular buses which stop just outside the Wallisdown campus – please contact the Transdev Yellow Buses for more information and times.
Students with disabilities
We welcome applications from students with disabilities to our University. However it is essential that you contact us at the time you make your booking to discuss any support needs. This way we are able to help you from the very beginning of the course.
By disclosing your disability to the Arts University Bournemouth, you gain access to the professional, confidential services that the Disability & Learning Support Team can provide.
The term ‘disability’ refers to mobility difficulties, mental health difficulties, autism/Aspergers syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, visual/hearing impairment, learning difficulties such as dyslexia & dyspraxia, as well as medical conditions such as epilepsy or asthma.
It is important for any student with a disability that requires assistance in any way, to complete a Disability Disclosure form and return it to the Short Courses Office promptly. The information you provide will be treated confidentially and will only be shared with others with your permission.
Please look out for your confirmation email and letter, which will be sent you after your booking has been processed. This includes instructions on where to report to on your first class and the further benefits available to you as a Short Course student.
