Young Artists

Stretch your imagination and use a wide range of media to develop their own unique style in our Young Artist course.

Course Details

This new updated and revised course has been specifically developed for blossoming artists aged 8-12 years, to help them harness their imagination and gain confidence in creating and sharing their work.

The young artists will gain access to AUB teaching staff dedicated to supporting young learners. As well as fantastic studio spaces which allow us to share and talk about our work, in an encouraging and compassionate environment.

Each week students will learn new skills in art and design, using tools, equipment and techniques that are vital in the creative industries! Students don’t need to already be an expert draftsperson, sculptor or photographer though; all we ask is students come with buckets of enthusiasm (and old clothes you don’t mind getting messy).

We at AUB understand how important young creative artists are in having so much potential and with so much ability and enthusiasm, students will have support and guidance from their dedicated tutor and course assistant to fully explore their creative talent and future potential.

At AUB we try to harness a budding young artists natural style and flair enabling them to utilise existing creative interests and acquiring new skills in the development of their own unique creative visual language. We also take great care and respect to ensure all our young learners are included and supported throughout the duration of the course.

Meet your tutor

Hello, I’m Toby, I’m an illustrator living and working in Bournemouth. I paint character-driven fantasy illustrations and have worked in picture books, video games and album covers. My work aims to push the boundaries of representation and inclusivity in the fantasy genre. My practice has a strong foundation in observational drawing, which I believe is a great place for any artist to start.
