Postgraduate coursesAreas of Expertise and Engagement with External Professionals

Course Overview

Areas of expertise within the course team include: the transformation of both hard and soft materials in the pursuit of meaning; drawing; renewal of painting; the ‘objectness’ of sculpture; installation and space; performance (video) and the document; photography and new media.

The Fine Art team have extensive experience in exhibiting, curating and writing about art. They have strong partnerships with various local and national organisations that support students in their professional development.

It is important for students to maintain an outward facing approach to practice, and the provision of ArtSway, a contemporary visual arts venue in the New Forest has seen a wide range of successful projects and activities since its inclusion across the MA offer, and affords them an opportunity to contextualise their experiences at the Arts University.

We also work closely with Arts Bournemouth and are very proud to have Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth and the New Art Centre at Roche Court, Salisbury as our industry partners. Through these partnerships students and staff are able to access expertise, support for exhibiting and engage in projects and events such as the Venice Biennale and the Arts by the Sea Festival.  Students benefit from the available internships in TheGallery at the AUB, learning vital skills and gaining insight into all aspects of gallery work and artist engagement.
