Flower Making for Hats – Saturday Workshop

An exciting opportunity to be introduced to the art of flower making, using tricks of the millinery trade. You will learn about the basics of making beautiful handmade fabric flowers in this practical workshop.

Course details

Your experienced tutor will guide you through every step of the process with the aim that you will have completed between one or two flowers at the end of the workshop to use as a corsage or to attach to a hat. The course also includes demonstrations and examples of contemporary milliners’ styles to inspire your own creations.

This dynamic and enjoyable course is suitable for both beginners and those who have a basic understanding of design and who wish to develop their own ideas from 2D to 3D.

Includes morning coffee/tea and a complimentary lunch.

  • Guidance through essential techniques to make flowers and leaves
  • Learning how to use a range of different fabrics to create flowers and leaves
  • Learning how to work with specialist Flower Making tools and equipment
  • Learning how to attach the different pieces of the flower together and consider proportions

Chloe started as a Milliner in 1996 with The Queen’s former Milliner, Philip Somerville.

The course aims to:

  • Provide you with an understanding of creating flowers including leaves and stamens, out of fabric
  • Provide a technical understanding of sewing skills
  • Develop an appreciation of flower making and design

Tutorials and appraisals giving you essential guidance.

No previous knowledge or experience is required, only a passion to learn and develop within the subject. Basic sewing skills will be helpful but not essential.

An apron, a thimble that fits your middle finger (ideally), and pen and paper.

All additional course materials provided as part of the course fee.
