This exciting practical course combines Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Animate and After Effects to efficiently tell a story through the visual arts of filmmaking and 2D animation.

Course details

On this fast-paced course you'll learn how to efficiently tell a story through the visual arts of filmmaking and 2D animation by use of Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Animate and After Effects. This course will break down the applications into easy to understand (and use) tools and standards for professional filmmaking.

You'll be expertly led by your tutor through the various stages of mixed media (animation and filmed footage) pre-production, production, and post-production, to create a short film.

This course is perfect for anyone wishing to break into and improve as filmmakers for commercial or personal use as well as those who are currently using the applications but are looking to expand their knowledge through a more structured course of learning.

Likewise, this course is highly recommended for those who possess some knowledge or have a keen interest in the field of filmmaking, as the course will explore these applications in relation to the topic.

  • Essential skills and techniques of working in Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Essential skills and techniques of working in Adobe After Effects
  • Essential skills and techniques of working in Adobe Animate
  • Introduction to the topic of visual language
  • Script writing and storyboarding
  • Directing, blocking and cinematography
  • Filmmaking technical skills
  • 2D animation theory, workflow and practice
  • Understanding of how Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects & Adobe Animate can work together in filmmaking projects
  • Plenty of software techniques

The course aims to:

  • Help you become competent with the essential tools, features and functions of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects & Adobe Animate
  • Guide you to develop a filmmaker's mindset and create a mixed media short film.
  • Grow your confidence whilst working in singular applications and using them as a powerful set of cross-platform tools

  • You'll have completed a short film project with a final outcome which could be taken forward to develop or displayed in an online portfolio
  • You'll have a sound working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Adobe Animate
  • You'll have the confidence to open and start working on design projects in each of the three applications

This course is designed for anyone with a keen interest in and basic knowledge of filmmaking as well as a basic understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Adobe Animate. Throughout the course you’ll be using Apple Macs and iOS operating system, so you’ll need to be familiar with these.

It’s recommended that you have access to Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud at home so you can explore and practise between taught sessions.

Suitable for aspiring animators and filmmakers aged 18+.
