Jane has a strong interest in collaborative arts projects. As an experienced performer, choreographer and producer, Jane has been involved in a large number of professional events that fuse contemporary dance and choreography with site, sound, theatre, photography and film. Across an extensive teaching career, she has developed a strong portfolio of work with many arts agencies and professional companies. This is key to her style of work both academically and artistically. In 2009, Jane created the male dance company ‘Whitewash’ in partnership with Activate Performing Arts. The company members became well known in the South West as positive male role models for boys and young men, through their portfolio of dance performance and workshops. This has added a key identity to Jane’s freelance work, which is in community dance, at all levels for all people. In the last 7 years, Pavilion Dance South West has established itself as both a regional dance agency and one of five national dance houses. Jane has been involved in many aspects of its developing identity, delivery, direction and educational links. The collaborative partnership between Arts University Bournemouth and Pavilion Dance South West, in the creation of a degree course directly responding to industry needs is a perfect partnership for innovation and employability. In developing research, Jane has developed a wider portfolio of fitness, nutritional and bio -mechanical knowledge around the subject of dance. Going forwards, she is exploring new partnerships with sport degree programmes, exploring the dancer as both the artist and the athlete.
She is also a qualified fitness and Pilates instructor, and regularly threads these disciplines into her practice.
