Tasked with creating an item that hit specific limitations such as a production budget of £1.50, our final outcome for The Poundshop was a book titled ‘From Sleazy to Yeezy’. Pitched as a ‘Journey into the expressions of Kanye West’, the book detailed five emotions that Kanye theoretically experiences the most (Anger, Joy, Sadness, Confusion, and Enlightenment) with painfully relevant quotes from Yeezus himself accompanying them

Creating our own personal identity required a culmination of all previous skills learnt, calling on both editorial design to copywriting and image making to present and essentially sell ourselves in the most effective way possible. The idea behind the aesthetics stemmed from showing a visual transformation from the Phoenecian letter ‘Aleph’ (essentially the first letter), to the Cyrillic ‘A’ that we know today. The Phoenecian alphabet can be found within the logo itself. The title of Prosaic is a combination of ‘prose’, and ‘mosaic’ – naturally. It also means lacking imaginativeness or originality, which aptly fits in with the concept.

We wanted to try and evoke a sense of nostalgia that occurs at a beach, and pair that with the universal understanding of a sandcastle. We created the sandcastle out of cement, using buckets as the mould. It was interesting to see how the physical pieces sat in the context it was placed in, as obviously they were a more permanent structure than the sand around it – which they were essentially created from.
