Most of our students undertake a work placement at the end of their first year, helping them to gain more experience in the area they wish to specialise in and giving them a real feel for what it is like to work in this industry.
Work placements are also an excellent opportunity to make contacts and the course has strong links in film, television and theatre. National and inter-national placements are encouraged developing exciting network opportunities for students.
Live projects, work-related learning and work placement are an important and an integral part of this course. Make-up artists are essential members of any Film, Television, Fashion, Catwalk and Stage production and work extensively with others within the creative industries.
Collaborative working is a highly valued and important part of life at the University. Make-up students have opportunities to work with film production teams from the Film course, with the Arts University’s student actors and costume students on the School of Performance Productions and with Fashion and Photography students on editorial shoots and fashion shows, all of which simulate work in the professional arena.
