Ricky Earl graduated from BA (Hons) Animation Production in 2010. He went on to work as an animator for London-based animation studio, Karrot.

Karrot is run by AUB alumni, Jamie Badminton and Tim O’Sullivan.

Ricky then went to work on animated short film, Storm, based on a poem by Tim Minchin. The film was long-listed for the BAFTAs 2011.

Ricky also spent some time working on DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots: the Video Game.

Ricky returned to work as an animator for Karrot in 2011, working from their London studio before moving to Sweden in 2012. Now living in Karlstad, he still works for Karrot Animation, now as Creative Director.

Ricky said: “I was employed as a Flash Animator and Character Designer, and I was also heavily involved with After Effects compositing and motion graphics.

I was responsible for most of the camera work in the film and general cinematography.

At Karrot, I have worked with many clients including Cartoon Network, Mind Candy, and Rovio. I have served many roles, from Animator to Director.”

Ricky says the course at AUB gave him the skills necessary to start him on his journey and “almost just as importantly, the networking you get just from being there has proved invaluable.”

Ricky is currently creating storyboards for Karrot’s own BAFTA award winning show, Sarah & Duck.
