As part of the course, you’ll have the opportunity to visit major galleries and museums both locally and internationally.

Significant resources in the area include the Russell-Coates Museum in Bournemouth, the new John Hansard Gallery in Southampton, New Art Centre near Salisbury and Hauser & Wirth in Somerset.

A rich array of museums with design and art collections include the Southampton City Art GalleryPoole Museum, and the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester. Bournemouth also hosts a number of exciting cultural festivals including the Arts By The Sea Festival.

You’ll be able to use our own design collection here at AUB, as well as those of our partner institutions, to help you hone your critical and practical skills in analysing and working with artefacts, exhibitions and live events.

You’ll have unique access to resources including the Museum of Design in Plastics (MODiP). You’ll also have access to TheGallery, an extensive exhibition space at AUB with a regular series of curated exhibitions of high-profile designers and artists

The course works closely with art and design practitioners in industry, as well as with curators, writers and museum archivists.

You’ll also deepen your understanding of creative processes through collaboration with students working on practice-based degrees at the University. This includes students from our BA (Hons) Architecture, Creative Events Management, Drawing, Fine Art, Graphic Design and Illustration courses.

You’ll also be able to make the most of our Library.
