Facilities and Resources

As part of the course, you’ll have the opportunity to visit major galleries and museums both locally and internationally.

Significant resources in the area include the Russell-Coates Museum in Bournemouth, the new John Hansard Gallery in Southampton, New Art Centre near Salisbury and Hauser & Wirth in Somerset.

A rich array of museums with design and art collections include the Southampton City Art Gallery, Poole Museum, and the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester.

There are a number of exciting cultural festivals in the region, including the Arts By The Sea Festival in Bournemouth and the b-side festival in Weymouth and Portland.

You’ll be able to use our own design collection here at AUB, as well as those of our partner institutions, to help you hone your critical and practical skills in analysing and working with artefacts, exhibitions and live events.

The course works closely with art and design practitioners in industry, as well as with curators, writers and museum archivists.

You’ll also deepen your understanding of creative processes through collaboration with students working on practice-based degrees at the University. This includes students from our BA (Hons) Architecture, Creative Events Management, Drawing, Fine Art, Graphic Design and Illustration courses.

You’ll also be able to make the most of our Library.
