Tuition is on a group basis, although it does take account of individual’s interests and needs. All courses are subject to a minimum number of students enrolling. If we cancel a course, all participants will be notified and offered an alternative course or fees refunded in full.
Our classes are designed for students in school years 5 to 13. Please check the year group of a course before enrolling your child. We do not accept children on any course if they are not in the specified school year group.
Changing dates or postponing a course
In rare circumstances, we may need to rearrange dates of a class. If so we will try to give you as much notice as possible. Information will also be published on our main page. Parents who provide email addresses or mobile numbers will be emailed and sent a text wherever possible. In cases such as these, refunds will not be offered, as students will be invited to attend a replacement class at an alternative time.
Cancellations made by you
If you wish to cancel your place on the course, your course enrolment fees will only be refunded if we are notified in writing/email at least 21 days prior to the course commencing. We do not offer refunds once the course has commenced. If the complete course is cancelled due to insufficient numbers/unforeseen circumstances then a full refund will be given. Please note that while every care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of this brochure, the Arts University Bournemouth reserves the right to make changes if necessary.
Safeguarding your child
Parents/guardians of students in the Young Artists class must sign their child into and out of each class. They must also inform the tutor of any other person authorised to collect their child who will be required to sign when the child is collected. We also encourage all new parents/guardians to attend the introductory talk on the first day of term, which lasts no more than ten minutes. This session will provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. Students in school year 8 and above are able to sign themselves in and out with their parent’s/guardian’s permission. If you would prefer to sign your child in and out of class yourself please notify us in writing. All students will need to be dropped off and collected from a central point each week. Details will be given with confirmation of enrolment.
Code of conduct
Students are expected to behave in a responsible manner respecting tutors, other students, University property and equipment. Students who do not behave responsibly will not be allowed to continue with the class.
Non-attendance at classes due to illness or for personal reasons does not provide the right to a refund, extra tuition, or a transfer. We reserve the right to contact parents/guardians of students under 18 years of age who have missed two or more consecutive weeks of class without prior notification.
We welcome participation from young people with disabilities and will do our best to support them. Please contact us for further advice before enrolling.
