For this project I had to pick from the variety of Hotel Indigo locations and capture the essence of the neighbourhood through images, creating awareness for Hotel Indigo as a design-led boutique brand with a point of view on what makes an inspirational travel experience. I wanted to immerse myself in everything about the place: its history, people, culture, and music; its sights, smells, sounds, textures, tastes. I wanted to create three images that could be used as focus walls within bedrooms or throughout the hotel.
Hotel Indigo has a hotel based in Madrid on the Gran Vía Madrid is a city that I love and travel to frequently, so thought of this as the perfect opportunity to capture my favourite places within the city and show hidden parts that people wouldn’t consider to be in such a city. Considering the hotel is located on the Gran Vía, which is probably the busiest central street of Madrid, I wanted to create images to show this.
Firstly, Atocha Train station is the primary station in Madrid but also surprisingly, a large greenhouse full of palms. I wanted to capture the beauty of this contrasting against a metro sign. The metro is the most popular form of transport through Madrid and is an important part to the city. Secondly, Roof top bars are something I discovered this past summer in Madrid, and are a beautiful way to view the city. I tried to capture this along with also a Paella dish because of how amazing Spanish food is in Madrid. Lastly, El Retiro Park and it’s boating lake. This is one of my favourite things to do when I visit and is a breath of fresh air to walk out from the hustle and bustle of the city into a beautiful park.
