This piece was written in collaboration with AUB Creative Writing students and was directed by Tamsin Fessey.
This brand new play, produced in collaboration with students of the BA (Hons) Creative Writing course, focuses on a modern day writer Clara, who has been commissioned to develop her science fiction novel, based on the Frankenstein story.
The piece charts her growing obsession with the project which sees her return to her home town of Bournemouth, a confrontation with her past and the uncovering of a buried secret that threatens to shatter her relationship with her partner, Will.
Further echoes of the past are represented by the characters of Mary and Percy Shelley who intersperse Clara’s narrative as parallel timelines threaten to collide. Meanwhile, in a futuristic lab, a sinister operation is afoot, with the potential to spiral out of control, a theme that is explored throughout this exciting new collaborative work, inspired by the life of Mary Shelley.
