The department also has facilities which are shared with other departments of the university. These are spaces which house further specialist facilities which are key to accompany their studies, which the course benefits from, and include the Workshop, Studio Theatre and the Library.
The AUB Workshop is situated directly next door to the costume department and can be accessed by any student. The workshop houses the costume departments very own dye and screen printing room. Onsite technicians are on hand to help students make use of the fantastic facilities such as:
- Laser cutting and 3D printing
- Fabric and textile printing
- Spray room
- Plastics room
- Resin and casting room
- Plaster and sculpting room
- Large Metal shop
- Large Wood working and traditional machinery
The AUB has its very own black box theatre space that is regularly transformed by our students into a space of wonderful imagination and set design. The majority of AUBs productions are held in this space with the remaining productions taking place in Poole’s Lighthouse Theatre and Bournemouth’s Pavilion Theatre. Wherever the show may be, the costume students collaborate with the BA Make-up and BA Acting courses who are housed within the same building. This is an important factor that distinguishes this university from many others.
