Leading digital infrastructure builder CityFibre has worked with students from AUB and local digital creative agency CROWD to overhaul and update the brand and identity of it’s flagship internet service provider Gigler.
The three-month project was undertaken by 1st year BA (Hons) Visual Communications students in response to a professional brief and provided them with their first taste of a real-world commercial project.
Working under close guidance and mentoring from CROWD, the AUB students were briefed to create a new brand identity that supports and builds on the futuristic Gigabit broadband speeds Gigler offers to homes and businesses in Bournemouth. With up to 1000Mbps download speeds; 100 times faster than the UK’s average, Gigler is one of the UK’s fastest service providers and as such provided a clear brand opportunity for the students to build on.
“This was different to previous work experiences because Jamie at ‘This is Crowd’ gave us the opportunity to develop our own ideas and take responsibility for the project. I feel that because he let us attack the problems on our own, we learnt a lot more.” Leo Bowyer, BA (Hons) Visual Communication student.
Throughout the course of the project, the students explored the underlying messaging and visual assets that would help to differentiate Gigler in a crowded market place. They then built on this to compile a brand-book and to completely overhaul the Gigler website. The new design and website was also carefully planned to speak directly to the Bournemouth homes and business that have craved lightning fast broadband connectivity.
