Five students studying on AUB’s BA (Hons) Visual Effects Design and Production course have been hired by innovative visual effects facility, Outpost VFX.

Located in Bournemouth, Outpost VFX designs and creates innovative visual effects for the film, broadcast and advertising industries.

Taking on junior roles in both 2D and 3D, the students will put into practice the skills they have learned on the course to date.

These five students bring the total number of VFX students in their first and second year in employment to 19. Contracts range from four weeks to the entire summer.

Course Leader, Paul Hilton, said: “This course places strong emphasis on currency of knowledge and the employability of our students.

Our industry staff ensure that our students are trained to the highest standard in the fundamentals of VFX – from the first year of the course. The aim is to make entry level positions accessible to them by the end of the first year.

We believe that its this approach that is giving them the edge over competition when it comes to employment.”

In addition to the five students at Outpost VFX, 13 students recently secured work at Framestore (based both at AUB and in London).
