University Illustration graduate Emily Golden Twomey is celebrating after a book she illustrated, The Loon on the Moon, has been nominated for an award.

After graduation, Emily moved to London and worked with a literary agent who put her in contact with Scholastic Publishers, who offered her a two-book deal.

The Loon on the Moon was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal 2011 and Emily is hoping to equal her success with her second book entitled The Fabulous Flapdoodles, which is out later this year.

Emily commented ‘At the moment I am enjoying learning lots about the children’s book industry and I hope that I can carry on creating fun and imaginative picture books.’ The Loon on the Moon will be stocked by the world-famous Science Museum in London, amongst others.
