BA (Hons) Textiles student, Megan Bill, has won in the Roces Graphics Contest 2018.

Megan entered the contest for Roces, a world leader in the design and production of inline and ice skates, after seeing it advertised on Instagram.

She tells us more: “I saw the Roces Graphics Contest advertised on Instagram and thought it would be worth entering, even though I have only designed for fashion textiles before.

“I used a digital print which I had designed for my Final Major Project, titled ‘In Another Skin’. This was inspired by exotic animal skins and explored the textures and patterns, celebrating their beauty as an alternative to the unethical use of exotic skins often used in fashion.

“I applied my design as a skateboard deck, and brightened up the colours to make it more vibrant and bold.

“I was thrilled that I won the competition and that my design will be part of the Roces SS18 collection. I’m excited to see my design in use! As my design was originally for fashion, it was a different style to most skateboard graphics, and shows how transferable the skills developed on the Textiles course can be!”
