Second year BA (Hons) Textiles students were given the opportunity to work on a commercial live project last term, as part of their Autumn term unit.
The project involved working with Sling Studio, a Dorset based company that design and manufacture high-end baby slings and scarfs, inspired by owner, Alicia’s experience of carrying her daughter and her love for textiles.
Sling Studio presented a brief to the students tasking them with designing a range of prints that reflected their brand ethos as well as ethical consumer values. The chosen winning designs will be commissioned into production for their 2018 collection.
Fifteen students took on the challenge and worked over six weeks to deliver the project from concept through to a printed prototype. The final designs were selected with much enthusiasm by Sling Studio’s international Social Media audience with well over 1,000 responses received in less than 48 hours.
