BA (Hons) Photography student Harry Carter has come out on top in the public vote for Foutoura’s Geometric Shapes competition.

Harry, who is now in his second year, beat over 100 other entrants answering the brief of, “employing geometric shapes and lines as the dominant visual structuring element.”

On the image itself, Harry said: “As well as drawing attention to the geometric composition of the surroundings, I tried to focus on the human element and the subject’s interaction with man made structure. This allows the figure to almost become part of the environment.

The photograph was taken at around midnight in Amsterdam just outside Rembrandt square. I took the picture in late september of this year.”

Harry’s image now features on photography community Fotoura’s Primary Colours theme page alongside other featured photographers.
