‘Signals’ was a pop-up, multi-art-form exhibition that incorporated immersive performance to explore the topics of consent, sexual assault and the positive and negative sides of sex.

The thought-provoking artwork featured within ‘Signals’ was sourced from a range of talented local and international artists, whose work included photography, sculpture, illustration and installation.

This free event was hosted in Canvas, Bournemouth on Sunday 23rd April. The second took place in AUB’s iconic CRAB Drawing Studio on Wednesday 26th April; a building designed and completed by Professor Sir Peter Cook RA.

The students wanted to break down the taboos surrounding sexual assault, consent and sex in order to enable young people to speak about their experiences in a safe space, without the shame and judgement that these issues are often associated with.

They endeavoured to open up a dialogue with the community, take action and address the grey area surrounding the issues of sex and consent, whilst offering the audience the support that is available to them throughout the Dorset area. With guidance and support from Safer Poole Partnership and Dorset Rape Crisis Support Centre, the group aimed to deliver these topics in a way that was never seen before in Dorset.
