BA (Hons) Acting students at AUB received a masterclass this week from film, stage and television star Sarah Parish, best known to UK audiences for her roles in Peak Practice, Cutting It, Hearts and Bones, Doctor Who, Mistresses, Blackpool, and Merlin.

Sarah has also had major roles in Hollywood films, co-starring in The Wedding Date and appearing in a cameo role in The Holiday with Kate Winslet and Jude Law.

Principal Lecturer and Course Leader, Doug Cockle, said that he was “delighted that such a talented and experienced actress could take time from her very busy schedule to share her skills and knowledge with the next generation of students.”

Sarah, who was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by AUB at the graduation ceremony last July, is known for playing incredibly strong female roles.

Her most recent screen appearance in BBC series Atlantis, playing banished Queen Pasiphaë, was no exception.

Born in Somerset to parents who were keen on amateur dramatics, Sarah has starred opposite many celebrated actors throughout her twenty one years in the business; working alongside Eddie Redmayne, Donald Sutherland, David Tennant, and James Nesbitt.

She met her husband James Murray, who is also an actor, on the set of the hugely successful drama series Cutting It.

Sarah is passionate about her charity work, and together with husband James is a patron of the Friends of PICU charity at Southampton hospital. Sarah and James also founded The Murray Parish Trust in memory of their late daughter Ella-Jayne.

They are jointly promoting the Rockwood Festival this June in aid of the Trust.
