10 BA (Hons) Fine Art students recently took part in a residency at Lokaal01 in Antwerp, Belgium. The artists lived and worked in the space for 7 days using living and working in a foreign city as their inspiration.

Senior Lecturer Dominic Shepherd said:

“LOKAAL01 is an exhibition and residency space here in Antwerp.  The 2nd year students have been invited out here to make work and explore Antwerp’s vibrant Arts scene. They’ve been guided around shows by gallery directors, visited international artist’s in residence, attended The Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp’s 350 birthday party, and completed the construction of their own exhibition.

It’s been great for them to work and be treated as artists within their own right. They’ve been brilliant ambassadors for the AUB here in Europe.”
