MA Fine Art alumnus Larissa Bone is currently exhibiting at WestBeach as part of TheGallery’s Off-Site Arts Programme.
The exhibition is running until 29th January 2016, Larissa tells us more:
“I undertook a part-time MA course, which allowed me to evaluate and develop my art practice, broaden my thinking and gain skills in curating. The first year flew by with lectures and making acquaintances on campus. During the second year I had a chance to collaborate and participate in an international exchange with École Européenne, Supérieure d’Art de Bretagne, Rennes, France.
Once I completed my MA course I was represented by the Gallery’s Off-site project at West Beach where I am exhibiting several of my Degree work from still life series, which will run ’til 29th of January 2016.
In October 2015 I was also participating in residency at CMR project space, Cornwall and now in the process of preparing for the Exhibit Here’s Art Maze at Bargehouse, London where I am going to exhibit three sculptures two of which I made during my studies at AUB.
I am an interdisciplinary artist working with video, performance, photography and sculpture. My work is situation-based where I explore the connections that occur through the encounters of everyday experiences with broader social or ethical issues, whether of a personal or political nature, exploring the role of social pressure and expectations that obscure an understanding of personal notions of authenticity or truth.
The MA course at AUB was stimulating due to its diverse creative environment, which was filled with a mixture of international students and from the UK. This is a great platform to make new friends and learn about different cultures.”
