BA (Hons) Fashion Branding and Communication student, Alice Hollingsworth is the happy winner of the Lyst Fashion Writing Competition, for her inspiring fashion piece, ‘All That Glitters’.
For the brief in late 2017, the student contestants were asked to produce a 400-600-word article about ‘their favourite fashion trend of the moment’, while adhering to a number of guidelines. Her captivating festive themed article focused the glitter and disco trends, exploring everything from sparkly layers to daring glitter brows.
Of her surprise win, Alice Hollingsworth says:
‘I was really surprised I won the competition. I really didn’t think I would, but I’m happy. It makes me want to write more. When I heard about the Lyst writing competition it sounded like something I would enjoy, especially because it was a trend writing piece. I have always loved writing – more ‘article style’ than academic. I’m not too sure what I want to do in the future, but I love working in a studio, so maybe Styling or Digital Marketing, and freelance writing on the side.’
Lyst is a global fashion search engine that boasts 50 million users a year. With over 12,000 designers, including Burberry, J.Crew and Alexander McQueen, they also create trend-focused fashion articles.
FOLLOW UP ARTICLE
Adding to her success, Alice was asked by Lyst to write a follow-up article. Her fun trend-focused piece, ‘The Five Must-Have Trends For SS18’, explores this season’s fashion essentials, from statement earrings to micro sunglasses.
