Isabelle’s entry was shortlisted in the final eight, and she attended a private viewing at the Lewis & Wood showroom.
“Throughout my years at university I have always been greatly inspired by Lewis & Wood and took this as an exciting opportunity to challenge myself in developing my designs to a much larger scale, in fitting with the brief.
“My initial design ideas were inspired by a combination of elements from previous projects; a collection of illustrative florals, foliage and birds. Although I did not win, I was successful in being shortlisted for the final eight, which was a great achievement. I was invited for a private viewing at the Lewis & Wood showroom in Chelsea Harbour for a Champagne reception, where I was greeted by Stephen Lewis and Magdalen, Managing and Creative directors of Lewis & Wood.
“During my visit, I received personal one-to-one feedback on my entry and was heavily encouraged to apply again next year.
This provided me with an opportunity to add valuable experience to my CV and similarly build my portfolio with professional work. The work I submitted for this brief, alongside other projects enabled me to secure an interview for a position in a design studio specialising in Interior surface and print design in Mumbai.
“I have since been offered a second interview, as well as additional interviews for positions in Thailand and Bangalore.
“I would highly recommend taking up any opportunities to apply for competitions and jobs as, although not always successful, the feedback and experience will always be worth your while. I am now feeling excited and optimistic for my future in textile design!”
