First year BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design students have created a Cardboard City.
Senior Course Leader, Sonia Nicolson tells us more about the project: “The Cardboard City looks to set the challenge of designing for the future. Our first year students work as a class to discuss what the ‘city’ will be like in 500 years time, they plan out the urban structure and discuss lifestyle, economy, jobs, education, architecture, transport and so on. Working in pairs, students design and build their own square of the city which comes together in a presentation, with each student telling their story from the city. It’s a fun and imaginative short project which gets students thinking outside the box and building within the first few weeks of the course.”
