Honorary Fellow Greta Scacchi has visited BA (Hons) Acting yesterday to to talk about the industry with current students.
Made an Honorary Fellow in 2010, Greta recently played Countess Natalya Rostova in the BBC’s War and Peace. Greta was awarded an Emmy for her role as as Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna of Russia in the television film, Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny, and will be appearing opposite Kenneth Branagh in The Entertainer at the Garrick Theatre this August.
Sharing anecdotes about her career in Hollywood, in European independent features, and on stage internationally, she offered the students some extremely valuable insights into maintaining artistic integrity within a system which can be alienating and difficult to negotiate for young performers.
Acting student Faye Butler said: “Greta provided an honest and personal insight into the world of acting, and was hugely inspirational with her words of wisdom. She hugely advocated being yourself in the industry and going with your instincts. I filled a whole page of notes and can’t wait to see who will be speaking next!”
The visit follows on from a series of industry lectures, with Sarah Parish visiting previously.
Make sure you catch the latest Acting / Costume / Makeup collaboration show, The Man of Mode next week.
