In January 2017, Untold Theatre will be producing an exciting piece of new writing, The Ghosts of Mr. Dickens, which will tour theatres and community venues across the UK.

Untold Theatre was founded three years ago by BA (Hons) Acting graduates, Jessica Levinson Young and Joseph Rynhart.

The production, set during 1867, charts Dickens’ second voyage to America. During his journey, the renowned author becomes plagued with guilt-ridden visions.

Figures from his life – his parents, wife, companions and children – appear alongside characters from his stories.

These spirits return to guide (and taunt) him. As reality blurs into fiction, much like Ebeneezer Scrooge, the author is compelled to revisit the sins of his past.

The show includes performances from three recent BA (Hons) Acting graduates (Aimee Kember, Matt Penson and Dominic Vallance), and will use hand-crafted puppets alongside striking digital projections.

As part of the tour, the show will visit Bournemouth’s Shelley Theatre on Wednesday 11th January.

There will also be a performance at Platform Islington on Saturday 14th January, where AUB Alumni can receive a 10% discount by using the voucher code ‘inspiredAUB’ and producing a form of student ID on the night.

This play portrays two incarnations of the writer struggling against one another,” say Untold Theatre.

It’s about the actual man versus the legend he wishes to survive beyond the grave. He is forced to confront the reality of his upbringing, and the ways he hurt those he loved – especially the women in his life.”

Everything Theatre said of Untold Theatre’s previous work: “It left me both inspired and spellbound.”

Joseph said: “We’re working really hard, in a competitive arts landscape to make the best shows we can. We’re collaborating with some really talented alumni, and it would be great to see as many AUB faces as possible at the performances in Bournemouth, London and beyond.”
