Saturday the 27th of June saw animations graduates, past and present, gather on the AUB campus.
For the first time in four years the annual Animation Alumni Gathering was back on the AUB campus. For the past three years the get-together has taken place in conjunction with the graduate screening at BFI Southbank, London, where BA (Hons) Animation Production and BA (Hons) Film Production show their newest student productions in the NFT1 cinema.
For many of the alumni the return to the campus was a bit of an adventure due to the addition of new buildings and rooms across the university. Maps were issued in advance.
The alumni present ranged from early 2000 right up the ‘soon-to-be-alumni’ of 2015 who will graduate this Friday. Professor Peter Parr, the original course leader of animation who retired in 2009, also came along with his wife Astor.
It is always a wonderful occasion when students of the past return to the campus and see each other again. Although, the alumni are hardly strangers in between reunions. The animation course have a large and and very closely-knit alumni community providing wonderful opportunities for each other across the animation and film industry.
Many of the alumni that took part in Saturday’s get-together will meet again on July 10th when the newest batch of graduation animations will screen at BFI Southbank.
