Two Fine Art students have been selected to take part in a two week residency at the Vegapunk Studios in Milan.

From a number of submitted proposals; Avni Agarwal and Faye Turner BA Fine Art final year students were selected to take part in a two week residency on November 14th at the Vegapunk studios in Milan. They will be tutored by Marisol Malatesta: visual artist and visiting tutor.

Avni and Fay are encouraged to explore the vibrant city and use this time as an opportunity to develop their current practice. Avni has been developing a performative practice, influenced by Cornelia Parker and is hoping to engage with the people of Milan and build her confidence in performing to the public. Fay’s practice is involved with Place and is hoping to visit ‘Consonno’ an abandoned town that was almost Italy’s Las Vegas.

As well as the residency programme, Marisol Malatesta and Simona Da Pozzo also run a video art exhibition called Camouflage. This has been running for the last three years and has been a development with Marisol, Simona and Fine Art Course Leader Richard Waring. The artists selected consist of 4 students from BA Fine Art at AUB and 4 students from Nuova Accademia Di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan. The videos will be screened at the Vegapunk studios on the 28th November along with a studio-visit with the two artists in residence from Faye and Avni.

The videos will also be part of Visual Container; a video arts website that will screen the videos for a month.
