Students from both BA (Hons) Fine Art and MA Fine Art have had an exciting international opportunity to exhibit in Milan.

Sarah Bailey and Katherine Inglis, third year BA (Hons) Fine Art students, had a two week residency at the VegaPunk Gallery.

Lucy Hilton, Tom Ethetheridge, Alice Parmenter of BA (Hons) Fine Art, MA student Holly Hennessey and alumnus Emma Mckinney had their video art screened at the gallery.

Visiting Tutor  Marisol Malatesta, who lives in Milan, provided tuition during the residency,

The two separate events, the residency and the video art screening, gave the students the opportunity to network with Italian art students from Turin, Milan and Bergamo, who were also selected for the ‘Camouflage’ show-reel. There was a special screening event on the 27th November and an exhibition of the residency artwork on the same night.

The video art work will be screened 24 hours a day on the international video art site, Visual Container, for the month of January 2016, as well as a 24 hour screening in a gallery in Milan.

The students met several artists, who gave advice on applications for further artist residencies. It proved to be a great opportunity to network and make new contacts and to gain an understanding of the contemporary art scene in Milan. There was also the opportunity to attend numerous contemporary art exhibitions and opening events, giving the students an international exhibition profile before they graduate.
