Seven fashion students from The Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) received Beales Scholarships this week in front of an invited panel of guests including Nigel Beale, the ex-chairman of the AUB, Tony Brown, the CEO of Beales, and Professor Jim Hunter, Deputy Principal of the AUB.
BA (Hons) Fashion Studies student Pei-Chen Yang and BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Technology student Charlotte Woods were the overall winners, each being awarded a scholarship of £1,250. Five other scholarships were handed out to Ross McNaughton, Francesca Henderson and Twinks Burnett from Fashion Studies, and Jenna Le Maitre and Laura Parkinson from Fashion Design and Technology.
The annual scholarship was put in place four years ago by the renowned department store in recognition of the contribution that ex-Chairman Nigel Beale has made to the region in the field of commerce, fashion and education. It will assist the students in their ongoing studies and help fulfill their ambitions; ultimately enabling them to make a contribution to the British and international fashion industry.
The students were all praised for the high standard of their work, the professionalism of their presentations and the commitment to their subject and chosen career in fashion.
