BA (Hons) Commercial Photography graduate Rebecca Warbis has had her ‘Date Night Cookbook’ published.

Date Night Cookbook is based on DIY dating, with each chapter centred around a different theme and all the recipes tried and tested by Rebecca and her partner.

Rebecca tells us more: “I wanted to create a final project at AUB that I could take forward and that would be marketable. The toughest part of the process was getting a deal after university that was fair and reflected the work put into the book. I sent little marketing packages to lots of publishers but they usually wouldn’t get back to you. I felt a bit like I knew I wanted to see my book in Urban Outfitters, so I went through their website looking at people who sold the kind of book that I have made. Eventually I had a few offers and opted for Summersdale, as they covered lots of places I could see my book like ASOS, Amazon and Urban Outfitters. When I signed my contract with Summersdale I agreed to create concepts, write, style and shoot 3 new chapters for the book. The time limit for this was really tight at one month so alongside my full-time job in Advertising it was a chocca busy month.

The original book was 6 chapters over 4 months. I had great help from my team of two other AUB 2015 Graduates of BA (Hons) Graphic Design, Sophie Charnley and Emma Galvin, who have stuck with the project throughout. Now the manuscript is all in the hands of the publishers, we’re doing lots of edits to get it looking sparkly for the launch. I will soon start drafting the next book in the Date Night Series to keep this going. I’m just really glad my incessant hard work at AUB and beyond has paid off and I can now say I am a published author. My lecturers are still a great help after Uni and I’ll send the department a copy when I get my set of books.”

Date Night Cookbook is now available to pre-order on Amazon.
