Graduating students from Textiles had the opportunity to exhibit at New Designers, Part One 2014 at the Business Design Centre Islington
The Show was open to the public from 25th – 28th June. The AUB, BA Textiles stand showcased 20 graduates work, covering a broad range of skills within the textiles specialism. There were also four 2013 Textile graduates exhibiting at New Designers One Year On; Chloe Atkins, Georgia Bocchetta, Ruby Marquet-Horwood and Emilie Osborne.
Project: ‘In the midst of 3D illusion’, 3D printed forms.
Judges’ Comments: ‘Innovative and beautifully made with a great deal of care for the display. Over the past 12 months, Emilie has really developed and marketed her work. She shows a good understanding of her business needs and has got big and clear ambitions for her future.’
Award Prize: £500 cash from New Designers, £200 prize from The Design Trust, one year free membership to Design Nation with coaching programmes and the opportunity to exhibit at The National Centre for Craft & Design.
Emilies comment: ‘I am shocked and over-whelmed! I feel that both my business and I will benefit from this award as it will give me the drive to push on and keep developing my work.’
It was a hugely successful year for the AUB, with interest from and students being approached by a broad range of companies. These included; Monsoon, House of Fraser, Debenhams, Tigerprint, the Design Council, interior and fashion freelance agencies as well as private commissions.
