Recent BA (Hons) Textiles graduates, Isabelle Hill and Paloma Alarcon, exhibited at the prestigious Hand & Lock awards in London’s Bishopsgate Institute.

The embroidery competition, now in it’s 18th year, was established to provide a platform for emerging embroidery talent to be publicly recognised.

Paloma Alarcon was awarded 2nd Prize for the Textile Art Student Category. She displayed her distinctive style through her beautifully crafted ‘golden collar’, telling a story of her South American heritage with hand embellishment and personalised laser-cut beading.

Isabelle Hill was awarded runners-up prize for her piece in the Wilcom Digital Embroidery Category Fashion Award.

Both students graduated in July this year. Isabelle has been working at Ralph and Russo Couture as an embroidery designer since, and Pamela has just landed a job at Yosuzi London, designing for accessories.
