BA (Hons) Make-up for Media and Performance graduate, Kate Garett, has been working at the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) since September 2016, after graduating in June this year.

She said: “I got the job by knocking on the stage door. This led to a week’s work experience and then a permanent job.

My time at AUB really helped improve my hair and make-up skills, as well as developing skills I didn’t have – such as cutting hair. This is required on a regular basis at the RSC, and was therefore vital to learn.

The opportunities I had at AUB allowed me to feel confident undertaking any task that was thrown my way once I was out in the world of work.”

Sandra Smith, Head of Wigs and Make-up at the RSC, had some great feedback about Kate: “she’s such a fab girl – you just know when you meet someone how enthusiastic, honest and capable they are going to be. Kate ticked all the boxes.”

The employment record for the BA (Hons) Make-Up for Media and Performance course last academic year was 100%.
