BA (Hons) Textiles student, Abi Bartlett, tells us about her placement at interior textiles company, MissPrint.

“MissPrint specialises in printed textiles for interiors, creating modern, graphic designs inspired by nature. My four-week internship was a great opportunity to gain experience of working in the textile industry. I engaged in a broad range of activities spanning various aspects of the business, giving me a good insight into how the company functions.

“My practical design activities were digital in nature and focused on colour-matching. I also performed administrative tasks and took responsibility over some of their social media platforms.

“Over the duration of the internship, I was able to use practical skills I had learnt in my first year at university and translate them into a working environment, something I found really exciting and rewarding. It was also interesting to learn about the process of printed textile production on an industrial scale, furthering my enthusiasm for the area. Additionally, I was able to build upon numerous transferrable skills and develop a self-confidence in my abilities, things which I can translate into any future employment.

“I have been fortunate to be invited back to work at MissPrint over the coming summer. This placement has definitely allowed me to build relations with the company and I look forward to pursuing internships in the future and the opportunities they may bring!”
