“The Costume and Performance Design degree here at AUB has been invaluable to me and my career. The tutors and staff are so devoted, knowledgeable, caring and supportive. They are willing to accommodate your wishes and needs, they push you to take initiative, break down boundaries you thought you had, and give you the most incredible grounding to begin life as a graduate.
The industry links are outstanding and have secured me paid professional work, even before I left the course. It is a course that rewards hard working students tremendously and is also hugely enjoyable and fun. I could not have wished for a better university experience or education.
After graduated from the BA, I designed the costumes for an Arts Educational Schools London production. I then continued at AUB on the MA Costume degree and designed the costumes for the Opening Celebrations of the Olympic and Paralympic Sailing Events “Battle for the Winds”. Since completing the MA I have become resident designer for the international circus and events company Cirque Bijou and designed for festivals, corporate events, family outdoor theatre and much more, travelled on tour with the puppetry dept of Disney’s The Lion King, designed for numerous theatre productions including a show at the Finborough Theatre London which was reviewed in national newspapers, TV adverts, a BBC TV Pilot, run community art workshops both independently and with charity organisations and written for The Independent arts supplement.
I have become a Visiting Tutor at AUB, leading workshops, tutorials and lectures. I’ve recently moved into a studio, and have been making puppets for a new children’s show touring the South West including Glastonbury festival.
Future projects include: Lead Designer on new show touring to six London venues in partnership with Cirque Bijou and AUB, creating Carnival costumes with children for Notting Hill Carnival, continuing to work in the puppetry dept. of The Lion King UK tour, continue my own art workshops in schools, communities and children’s and hen parties. I’d like to pursue more set design and construction, puppetry and community projects.”
