Angelica Maranan returns from her placement and tells us:

“Eyefix is a vintage print archive company in London with a wide range of clients in fashion and interiors. Their vintage collection are sourced around the world and dates back from the 1700s while the contemporary collection is produced by exciting new designers.

During work experience I selected prints that responded to the briefs given by the clients and pitched in during the meetings. This was a great opportunity to meet other professionals within the industry-I have had meetings with Nicole Fahri, Vanessa Bruno, Tom Ford, Abercrombie and Fitch, Uniqlo, etc. I also helped interview potential freelance designers which gave me an insight into what a textile agency looks for in a designer in terms of skills and knowledge.

I constantly observed the in-house designers while they work and was given a lot of advice in digitally manipulating designs. Working for a smaller company meant that I had access to all parts of the business -selling and sourcing prints, designing, admin, etc; I truly got to know how the business was ran and was made to feel part of the team. I was entrusted with responsibilities that ensured that the archive meetings, and intern duties ran smoothly.

This work placement gave  me a lot of inspiration as I was constantly surrounded by prints and allowed me to enhance my networking skills- through contacts made within this placement I was able to secure another work placement opportunity with another fashion textile company.”
