BA (Hons) Visual Effects Design and Production students were recently given the chance to work on Marvel’s Doctor Strange.
The students had just completed the first year of their three year degree when the opportunity presented itself. Recommended by two of the course’s teaching staff, who both work full time for Framestore, the students were deemed as ‘production ready’ and hit the ground running.
The short term contracts ran for four months over the summer until Doctor Strange wrapped.
Second year student, Leah Darrington said: “Working on Doctor Strange over the summer was a fantastic opportunity to further my paint and roto skills. I found it to be an enriching experience as I learnt so much about how the industry pipeline works and will take what I learned into my future career in VFX.”
Zack McCarthy tells us: “Upon completion of my first year, I was invited to an interview at Framestore. It was great to have the opportunity to work in a production house, gaining real industry experience and a film credit in a feature film.”
Students Corin Pearce and Finlay McCruvie were also engaged in working on this feature.
Now well into their second year, the students are meeting their latest projects with a new wealth of industry experience.
