To make a story come true, it has to leave the page. We have to set it free. We are the keepers of our own stories, but the key that unlocks them is not always easy to find… Who am I? Why am I here? What memories will I leave behind?
Second Year BA (Hons) Dance students will perform an original piece of immersive dance theatre entitled, A Letter to My Future Self. The work focuses on identity and the journey of self-discovery.
The performance will take place in the Ocean Room at Pavilion Dance South West from 7th – 9th December at 7.30pm.
The piece has been devised and directed by Course Leader, Jane White, and includes collaborations with AUB students from BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design and MA Architecture courses – as well as with local artist, Maggie Farmer.
Jane White, Course Leader on the BA (Hons) Dance course at AUB, said: “Our students are looking forward to performing at Pavilion Dance South West and bringing the piece to life.
“The piece is about identity and the process of discovering who you are and the memories that you want to create. It is also fantastic to be able to share the developing identity of this new and exciting degree programme with the public.
“It’s fantastic to have our new studios on campus. The course is held partly at PDSW and partly on campus at Arts University Bournemouth, which means our students benefit from a perfect combination of both professional and educational environments.”
The performance is also supporting local Arts Award students from Queen Elizabeth School, Wimborne.
