AUB Design Studios (Blocks A and B) have won a second award, at the RIBA South West Award 2017 ceremony.
The Design and Studio Workshops (Blocks A and B that house BA (Hons) Make Up for Media and Performance, BA (Hons) Modelmaking studios and Preparation for HE) have now taken two awards at recent ceremonies.
The RIBA has been celebrating outstanding work for over 180 years, with awards and prizes regarded internationally as a mark of excellence, recognising the best in architecture, architects and design.
The jury were impressed by “the exceptional work to re-purpose the buildings without extravagance, creating a positive experience” and described the building as a “beacon of creativity”.
RIBA also recognised the Design Studios building complements its neighbour, the CRAB Drawing Studio, last year’s RIBA award winning project.

Earlier this month, Blocks A and B won the Design through Innovation award at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors South West 2017 ceremony.
The Design and Studio Workshops were shortlisted for the South West RICS awards that took place in Bristol, and we were thrilled to announce we took first place for the Design through Innovation Award.
The Design through Innovation brief was to transform a building whose original function had become redundant, but the structure remained fit for purpose. The buildings historically served as halls of residence.
Winning the South West RICS Awards means we go through to the national awards later on this year.
