Friday the 23rd of February saw the return of the annual southern region Royal Television Society Awards, taking place at Winchester Guildhall.

Films from both the AUB Animation Production and Film Production courses were nominated and alumni, students and staff from both courses attended the award ceremony alongside nominated television industry professionals. The awards were hosted by TV presenter veterans Fred Dineage and Sally Taylor.

In the Student Animation category two of the three nominated graduate productions, Liv and Vida, were from the AUB BA (Hons) Animation Production course.

We are proud to announce that Liv was the winner!

Receiving the award were current second-year students, Alex Wright and Ryan Narvaez, who worked as assistant animators on Liv. They were joined by their student reps, Lucy Poynter and Rachel Somers, and BA (Hons) Animation Production Manager, Anne Terkelsen.

Arts University Bournemouth was one of five sponsors of the southern region RTS Awards. A representative from AUB was asked to present the awards for ‘Newcomers on Screen’ and ‘VJ (Broadcast)’.

Following its regional win, graduate animation Liv will now go on to a second selection process competing against the winners from the 13 other RTS regions, out of which 3 animations will be nominated. The nominated animation will compete for RTS National Award for Best Student Animation later this year.
